A delightfully hilarious play comes to town

After the successful Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar’s theatre play ”˜Kaifi Aur Mein’ and  Arif Zakaria and Sonali Kulkarni’s ”˜Gardish mein Taare’ in 2018 and ”˜A poetic evening with Deepti Naval’ earlier this year SAI Creative Arts Network ( SCREAN ) Australia now proudly presents comedy English drama ”˜The Siddhus of Upper Juhu’ in November.  

‘The Siddhus of Upper Juhu‘ is one of those plays that keeps you entertained. The problems and issues addressed in the play are not new to you if you have lived in Mumbai and this makes the play even more relatable. It’s comical to see their take on the situations..
Actors Rajit Kapur and Shernaz Patel will attempt to bring laughter into our lives with their English play, ‘The Siddhus Of Upper Juhu’, to be staged at Pioneer Theatre Castle Hill, Sydney on November 22, 2019.  
In the comedy directed by Rahul Da Cunha, Rajit Kapur and  Shernaz Patel play a middle-class couple living in a two-bedroom apartment in Mumbai’s popular Juhu locality, who are grappling with job loss, noisy neighbours and howling stray dogs on their streets.

Rajit Kapur is known for his award-winning portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in the 1996 film, The Making of the Mahatma, of the protagonist Unni in the Malayalam film Agnisakshi, and of the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi in the eponymous television series directed by Basu Chatterjee and broadcast on Doordarshan. His debut film was Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (1992) directed by Shyam Benegal.

Shernaz Patel is an Indian film and theatre actor, her works in Hindi and English films, most known for her roles in films like Black (2005) and Guzaarish (2010) and English language theatre in Mumbai.

Shishir Sharma, a well known renowned actor and theatre artist of Bollywood. Shishir has established himself as a versatile performer through a varied range of films such as Satya, Om Jai Jagdish, Sarkar Raj, Talwar, Fanaa, Mary Kom and recently released Dangal, Raazi, URI The Surgical Strike. Since his early age he has acted in many plays and later appeared in TV Serials and Films.
He portrayed the character of an International coach in the film Mary Kom, CBI director in Meghna Gulzar’s Talwar and head of the department of NSA in the recent film of Amir Khan’s Dangal, his performance was simply magnificent, realistic and well praised. He is also known for his powerful performances in TV serials like ”˜Shastri Sisters’, Kumkum Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan’, ”˜Ghar ki Lakshmi Betiyaan.  He has appeared in over 40 films, and is active in theatre and television. Shishir belongs to a family infused with creative genes but he stands apart.
