Parramasala celebrates its 10th Anniversary in March (13-15)

Parramasala, the largest celebration of cultural diversity in NSW, returns in 2020 for a three-day extravaganza of dance, music, art, food and family fun in the heart of Parramatta.

From 13 to 15 March, more than 35,000 people will head to Prince Alfred Square and its surrounds for a dynamic daily line-up of cutting-edge live music; vivid dance; kids’ workshops; culinary delights; and a breathtaking parade of colour and costumes.

Now in its 10th year, Parramasala is a world-class celebration of a broad range of cultures including South American, Middle Eastern, Indigenous Australian and South East Asian.

“For 10 years, Parramasala has shone a spotlight on the fantastic cultural diversity of Sydney and the real people who make up the beating heart of this city. This year, we’re going bigger and better than ever before with a huge program that celebrates 10 incredible years of Parramasala,” said Festival Director Paul Osborne.

“We are proud to support Parramasala as a celebration of Sydney and NSW as one of the most culturally diverse states in the world. Our city and state are stronger as a result of our people and this festival is for everyone to share in the music, art and food of our cultures and communities,” said NSW Acting Minister for Multiculturalism, Dr Geoff Lee.

“Parramasala truly captures the essence of the City of Parramatta ”“ rich in diversity, full of energy, and bursting with creativity. This remarkable festival is now in its 10th year and I can’t wait to celebrate the many cultures and communities that make Parramatta so special,” said City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer.

“The ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is proud to be returning as the Major Partner of Parramasala in 2020 and to be working with the New South Wales Government to support the largest celebration of cultural diversity in the state. The T20 World Cup will be a celebration of equality and inclusion that brings generations and cultures together, so there is tremendous alignment with Parramasala. Sydney will see more T20 World Cup matches than any other host city, with teams from seven different countries taking part in the women’s event, including Australia taking on India in the blockbuster opening match at Sydney Showground Stadium, and nine different countries in the men’s,” said Chief Executive Officer of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organising Committee, Nick Hockley.

Stay tuned for announcements on the full program in February.
