AIBC NSW farewells Arun Goel, Consul General of India, Sydney

Hon Premier Barry O’Farrell, Arun Goel, Sheba Nandkeolyar and Dipen Rughani  

The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) NSW Chapter held an official farewell for the Consul General of India, Sydney, Mr Arun Kumar Goel on March 31 at the Menzies Hotel, part of the ACCOR group in Sydney.

It was a very popular event with over 100 AIBC members and distinguished guests attending.

The popularity and the respect commanded by Mr Goel was evident in the turnout of high profile guests including the Premier of NSW, The Hon. Barry O’Farrell, MP & Minister for Western Sydney, The Hon. Greg Smith SC MP, NSW Attorney General, Minister for Justice, Nihal Gupta, Chair of the NSW Multicultural Business Advisory Panel, AIBC National Chair Dipen Rughani, Past Chair Brian Hayes, Indian Consulate members, Gurdeep Singh Councillor from Hornsby Shire, Virginia Greville, NSW State Director from DFAT, President of UIA, President of CII, Chairman & President of India Club, members from Austrade, NSW Trade and Investment, AIBC members and business leaders.

Ms Nandkeolyar welcomed guests and shared interesting stories regarding her interaction with Mr Goel. She appreciated his ever smiling nature and ready advice provided by him, whenever needed by the AIBC or herself.

“AIBC NSW has worked closely with Mr Arun Kumar Goel and the Indian Consulate in Sydney during his tenure to constantly promote trade and business between Australia and India, including assisting in hosting the 2013 Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Sydney,” she said.

“Mr Goel has played an important part in many AIBC events, including our Annual Australia India Address, the launch of the Women in Business Chapter, the launch of the Professional Services Chapter and many more” she said.

Mr Nihal Gupta shared his memories and was very grateful for the assistance and interaction he had with Mr Goel.

Mr Dipen Rughani fondly recalled how Mr Goel was always available whenever his advice was needed.

The Hon. Barry O’Farrell officially wished Mr Goel the very best and was very complimentary in his description of Mr Goel in the way he explored business opportunities between NSW & India. He also thanked AIBC NSW for inviting him and remarked on the close relationship that AIBC had with the NSW Government.

Mr Goel spoke about how the India Australia trade relationship has grown significantly during his tenure in NSW & South Australia.

He spoke about the AIBC’s professionalism & systems in place to take forward the bilateral relationship to its next level. He appreciated that AIBC NSW had brought forward the Professional Services Chapter launch date, so that he could officially launch the chapter.

Mr John Cox Vice President of AIBC NSW concluded the event by thanking the sponsors, supporters and all relevant people who had made this event possible.
