NSW Parliament v UIA XI
Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee is joining other NSW MPs for what should be an entertaining cricket match in North Parramatta this weekend.
At 9am on Sunday a team representing some of the finest cricketers from NSW Parliament takes on an equally talented side formed by the United Indian Association (UIA).
“This will be no easy challenge,” Mr Lee said. “The game is starting early and it will be 30 overs-a-side.
“It”Ÿs going to be a true test of all of the players’ abilities, enthusiasm, and stamina. The MPs have been told the UIA has drafted in a couple of ”žquicks”Ÿ into its bowling attack.”
Mr Lee said sporting contests involving the NSW Parliament are a time honoured tradition.
“For more than 100 years, teams representing the NSW Parliament have pitched their cricket skills and expertise against other organisations.”
Special guest at the match will be fast bowler Josh Lalor, who captains the Australian national indigenous squad and plays Sheffield Shield for NSW. Josh also plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash Twenty20 cricket competition.
“I hope Josh can give the MPs some tips on how to duck,” Mr Lee said.
