NBN 1

National Broadband network plans vary on speed and infrastructure cost between the Liberals and Labor, with the Liberals aiming for a national average speed of 25 Mbps while Labor is pushing for a national average speed of 100 Mbps.

Its amusing to note that the average internet speed at home in Singapore and South Korea is 80 times that of Liberal NBN plan, at 1000 Mbps (1Gbps)!

As the world moves ahead ”¦and internet the mainstay in our daily lives with networking, socializing, seeing movies at home on those big screens, streaming, downloading music, talking on Tango, Viber and Skype, reading news as it happens on iphones, playing games, shopping on line, studying through virtual class rooms”¦do we want to be left behind than the rest of the world as it moves into an era of talking cars, fridges, microwave ovens and holographic images and 3D image projection in our home family room as entertainment.

So its up to us users who need to decide which way Australia should go to do with NBN. And does the cost matter when people want to use internet for things mentioned above as techonology is the new utopia they hanker for.

One thing for sure… we all would like to bring on the broadband fast enough so that we can talk to the rest of the world and keep pace with futuristic technology which is bound to happen whether we like it or not lest we lag behind.
