Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to a baby boy at 4.24pm local time (1.24am AEST) at St Mary’s Hospital in London. Prince William was by her side for the birth.

Prince Charles released a statement revealing his delight at becoming a grandfather.

He said both he and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, are overjoyed at the arrival of his first grandchild.
