Melbourne International Comedy Festival is taking Australia’s biggest open-mic comedy competition, RAW Comedy, back to India for a second time to find the best, undiscovered Indian comedian.
In 2012, the inaugural RAW Comedy India competition was part of DFAT’s Oz Fest celebrations ”“ the biggest Australian culture festival ever staged in India ”“ where New Delhi’s Neeti Palta won, impressing judges with her slick comedy style. Neeti flew to Australia and wowed audiences with her feature spot in the RAW Comedy National Grand Final at the 2013 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
This week sees top Australian comics Justin Hamilton and Kate McLennan host the 2014 RAW Comedy India heats, preceded by workshops for contestants in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi, culminating in the National Final in Delhi this Sunday 23 February.
This year’s RAW Comedy India winner will win a trip to Australia to perform in the RAW Comedy National Grand Final on Sunday 13 April as part of the 2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
