Amitabh Bachchan Bollywood’s greatest star is visiting Melbourne  as the chief guest of Indian Film Festival Melbourne where he was  present at a press conference  attended by the media and politicians from the Victorian Government which has supported Mind Blowing Films’ Indian Film Festival Melbourne (IFFM 2014). He said that he was delighted to be here although has not come that often to Australia. He assured that that this trip won’t be his last. He said, “It is good to see Melbourne supporting the Indian Film Festival and I am delighted  to be present at the opening.”

He further said, “When we sit in a cinema, inside a dark hall we do not ask the person sitting next to us what caste, creed or religion he or she belongs to though we laugh at the same jokes, enjoy the same songs, enjoy the same emotions. I think very few institutions have been left in the world that host such integration when we know the rest of the world is fast disintegrating. It is wonderful to see that the Australian government has decided to use this medium in bringing two cultures together and build stronger bond of friendship, not just in the field of commerce, but in our cultures, in our exchange of students and in exchange of personalities which I am very proud to be a small member of, of the fraternity that is responsible in some way in executing these wonderful values. I am indeed very honoured to open the festival and that you have awarded me with the award that I feel I am least accomplished or worthy of such recognition.”

He thanked all the present humbly, “Its all due to your kindness, grace and affection really. I hope that there will be many opportunities to visit your beautiful country and act as an ambassador and a bridge between our cultures.”
