Two years on and the Indian Ministerial Consultative Committee has met to discuss new opportunities for the year ahead.

Member for Parramatta, Geoff Lee said, “The New South Wales Government is a strong advocate of multiculturalism and proud of the diverse communities that make such a significant contribution to our State”.

The Ministerial Consultative Committee is made up of some of the most eminent members of the Indian and South Asian community in NSW. Members give up their personal time and work collectively to strengthen the bonds between the Government and Indian community

The meeting was co-chaired by Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee and Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott with Member for Hornsby Matt Kean as deputy chair.

Geoff Lee said “this is a great forum and members are more than happy to raise difficult issues and take part in frank and fearless discussion on matters within and outside state jurisdiction, such as travel concessions for International students, English language requirements for International Students and visas and proposed changes to the Racial Discrimination Act”.

“The members also discuss innovative ideas for building a more cohesive community and rank among their achievements, multicultural Youth Parliament; contributing to major events and articulating opportunities around school curriculums and community needs,” said Geoff.
