The Cricket Legends Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara were at Trivet BMW in Parramatta on Wednesday afternoon 25 February to launch the new BMW 2 Series Convertible. I was surprised by the number of people who had gathered to attend the special event perhaps made special by the presence of Sachin and Lara. The sparkle soiree revealed the all new BMW 2 Series to more than 200 guests, media, community members and young Cricket fans. BMW welcomed very special guests on the stage legendary cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, they spent some time, sharing their stories and also participated in a Q&A session which was a once in a life time experience for everyone who attended.
Known for his passion for cars Sachin Tendulkar was asked Cricket has manifested in many ways, how are the similarities between his passion for the cars and the game? The Cricketer said, “Talking about cars as a child from my apartment I could see lot of cars as right behind there was an open theatre where I observed people driving in their cars and watching movies that’s how I developed my passion for cars, I started liking various cars.” He added, “I remember buying BMW in 1993 my pockets were not so deep back then so I had to opt for a second hand BMW and it was joy to drive that car.”
Said Sachin, “I have always been passionate about cars and it’s been a fantastic journey from second hand car to the latest M 5. To be honest I prefer driving, my driver sits at the back. There are occasions when I am travelling with my family then I sit at the back”. Sachin also said at the launch that in his career he had a number of challenges to have always been the one to work the hardest to reach the top.
“I always believed that my bat should do all the talking.”
Former West Indian International cricket player Brian Lara, speaking on the occasion, credited his family saying that they’d played important role in his development as a cricketer. He said his sister Agnes is the one who took him to his first coaching clinic when he was six years old. “I remember my first BMW convertible was burgundy colour as my West Indies laser logo, ever since I have been enjoying BMW.”
Both Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara congratulated BMW for their Style, innovations, reliability and value of money. The event was brilliantly organised by BMW Australia.
I look forward to attend more future events by BMW and hope that they give such opportunities for cricket fans to see their cricket stars from up close. Pity that I did not get to go so close as cricket fans just crowded around the cricketers for autographs.
