Over the past 6 years, Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), Sydney North West Chapter has raised significant funds that have been donated to the organisations and the underprivileged in India and Australia. The success of their yearly charity events is result of the commitment and support of GOPIO North West’s sponsors, partners and the team members.

In last few years GOPIO team members; Prof. Balkar Singh Kang, Harmohan Singh Walia and Sumit Joshi personally delivered basic amenities, warm cloths, water cooler, sports items to underprivileged children of Government Middle School of village Wara Poh Windia (Punjab), Govt Primary School Shahwala Zira (Punjab) and Govt. school, village Chundiala, Distt. Ambala (Haryana). A cancer patient in Zira was also provided with financial help. In 2014, the team supported a high school student Manoj Mahajan of Gurdaspur to procure prosthetic legs. The young boy belonged to a poor family who also lost their bread earner in an accident.

The team has been consistently achieving their fundraising goals year on year. The team is thrilled to announce that they have supported more than 2000 underprivileged school children in remote areas of Punjab & Haryana, India.

The team has also done fantastic work within Sydney community.
