Quality teaching in spotlight at Chipping Nortan

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli has praised  Chipping Norton Public School  for taking advantage of a major NSW Government investment, which will enable more than 1,000 of the best teachers to mentor and coach other teachers.

Mr Piccoli today visited the school with  Member for Holsworthy Melanie Gibbons  to see first-hand how it is making use  of its share of the  $224 million  Quality Teaching, Successful Studentspackage.

“The package is being rolled out from this term and it’s great to see schools like Chipping Norton Public School using this resource to improve the skills of teachers,” Mr Piccoli said.

“Skilled teachers across the State, such as Vicky Valensise at Chipping Norton Public School, are supporting their colleagues to develop quality teaching practices to improve student results.

“As part of the  Quality Teaching, Successful Students  package at Chipping Norton Public School, teachers are being given release time to observe the techniques used by skilled teachers in the classroom.”

Chipping Norton Public School is already seeing  improvement across reading, writing, comprehension and early numeracy following the introduction of targeted  literacy and numeracy programs funded under the Gonski agreement.

“This school is a prime example of how initiatives made possible by the NSW Government are having a positive impact on educational outcomes for students,” Ms Gibbons said.

“Hammondville Public School, Lurnea Public School and Nuwarra Public School are also among the first schools in NSW to benefit from the  Quality Teaching, Successful Students  package which is being rolled out across the State.”
