Free parking in Parramatta during festive season

The annual tradition of free parking returns this holiday season with Parramatta City Council turning on-street parking meters off and providing free access to Council car parks.

The free parking period will run from  12am Wednesday 23 December until midnight Monday 28 December 2015 and from 12am Thursday 31 December 2015 until midnight Friday 1 January 2016.

“Free parking during the busy festive season has become a traditional gift of sorts to our community.   It is one of the many ways that Council supports our businesses, residents and visitors and I am pleased to be offering free parking again this year,” Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr Paul Garrard said.

Free parking will be available across the Parramatta CBD leading up to Christmas and on Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. It applies to all Council parking meters and car parks in Parramatta including Eat Street (Erby Place), City Centre (Horwood Place), Justice Precinct (Hunter Street), Parramatta Station (Wentworth Street) and Riverbank car parks.

Time limits will remain in place.

“We hope the community takes advantage of the free parking on offer and chooses to shop locally to help support local businesses,” Cr Garrard said.

Residents and visitors who are keen to avoid the traffic can also take advantage of the many public transport options available in Parramatta.

Regular train, bus and ferry services connect greater Sydney to the heart of Parramatta and the free environmentally-friendly CBD shuttle is a great option to get around the City.
