‘The Lunch Box’ to be screened at PicNic Open Air Cinema Festival at Prince Alfred Park in Parramatta in April
Celebrate international cinema and food in picnic style in Parramatta in an open air cinema in the month of April.
PicNic Street food and Cinema is a new festival designed to relax and enjoy the best of international food and cinema culture. Recline and unwind after work on inflatable double beds, sip on a glass of French wine and eat some of the best food in the world while keeping warm under a blanket. You’re all set up to enjoy this great outdoor movie experience.
Not just a cinema experience, picnic cinema invites you to taste the flavours of the countries represented in the movies, through its international gourmet street food village (free entry). Guests can embrace the season’s last balmy nights with 20 pop-up restaurants serving gourmet international street food, a selection of the best wines and beers from Argentina, Spain, France, New Zealand and Japan while listening to live music.
Set up in the picturesque Prince Alfred Square in Parramatta for 16 days in April, this unique outdoor festival celebrates the world’s cultures in style. Kicking off on the first day of the school holidays in April, the festival will run over three weekends.
PicNic will screen16 international award-winning movies which include: American Golden Globe winning movie “Into The Wild”, Iranian Oscar winning movie “A Separation”, French comedy “Spanish Apartment”, German Oscar winning movie “The Lives Of Others” and a very special Bollywood movie “The Lunch Box” starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The schedule will be announced soon the screenings.
There will be two dedicated family nights, screening the award-winning Japanese animations from Hayao Miyazaki, “Ponyo” and “Castle In The Sky”.
There will be selection of gourmet specialties that will impress the most seasoned of foodies. Located inside Prince Alfred Square, the festival will be showcasing American gourmet burgers, Spanish Paella, Chinese dumplings, Mexican tacos, Italian pizza, French crepes and many more.
