Minister for Family and Community Services and Minister for Social Housing, Brad Hazzard MP said the 20 apartments being built by the NSW Government’s Land and Housing Corporation will be managed by the Women’s Housing Company (WHC) when it is completed next year.

“This new development reaches out to some of the most vulnerable people in society and it is great news for the community,” Mr Hazzard said.

“We believe in partnerships with the not-for-profit and private sectors and this partnership with the Women’s Housing Company delivers important services to some very vulnerable older members of our society.”

Alice Spizzo, Chairperson of the Women’s Housing Company said there was a pressing need for housing for older, single women.

“The NSW Government shows it is really listening to the growing evidence and community concern about the increase in the numbers of older women who are homeless,” she said.

“We appreciate the opportunity the NSW Government has given us to provide more safe and affordable housing for women who really need it.”

The Women’s Housing Company is a community housing provider which offers long term housing to single, vulnerable women without dependent children in NSW. The complex, will include wheelchair accessible units.
