“Diwali is truly a festival for all,” – Ray Williams

Here is message from Hon. Ray Williams MP, NSW Minister for  Multiculturalism, on the pious occasion of Diwali…

“It is my great pleasure to greet all those celebrating the traditional Hindu festival of Diwali that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, of good over evil.

The central message of good over evil is one that resonates with people around the world, and I am delighted that it has become an invaluable part of the NSW multicultural calendar.

The Hindu festival of light is celebrated across the world by communities of Indian ancestry, shared by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs.

The lighting of the Sydney Opera House sails signifies that Diwali is truly a festival for all, with a universal message that can be enjoyed by all Australians.

NSW is home to a multitude of faiths, customs, cultures and races, and the NSW Government is a firm advocate for the promotion of this rich diversity and its benefits to our society.

I wish everyone celebrating Diwali a happy and inspiring festival.
