Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen has been an inspiring women to all, an amazing Indian icon since 1994, when she became the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe pageant. Sushmita Sen is a Bengali Indian actress and model as well. Sushmita epitomizes grace, beauty, warmth, love and humility. She is a wonder mother, having adopted two girls, Renee and Alisah at the age of 25, a bold move in those days and taken up the responsibility to shower them with love, kindness and care to fulfil their dreams. Sushmita even won the Mother Theresa award for being a bold role model. Recently she said about her daughter, ““She’s not born from my stomach but from my heart,”
Sushmita is an inspiration to every woman out there who dreams of conquering the world. She is role model who has taught us why women must support women at all levels. Behind all that gloss and glam, Sushmita remains a lady who is humble, down to earth and graceful as ever.
Sydney meet and greet with Sushmita Sen on Saturday evening on October 14, 2017 organised by Friends India Entertainment at Galston Community Centre in the presence of organiser Vvikas Paul, major sponsors, media and community members was an evening that all Sydneysiders were looking forward to.
Sushmita’s entry was like that of a newly wed with the sounds of dhol. Sush, as she is lovingly referred in India, was dressed in casual black outfit and looked elegant and stunning. She claimed she had jet leg but she did not show any sign of tiredness and got straight to posing for pictures with the eager fans. One fan called out that she looked stunning despite the jetlag to which she replied sweetly,”It’s the make-up.”
Sushmita has taught us the essence of womanhood. There was no doubt that the title of Miss Universe 1994 was hers after she answered the question put to her, remember she was only 18 then, “What is the essence of being a woman?” Her winning answer was, “Just being a woman is God’s gift that all of us must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother and is a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring, and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman.”
Sush won Sydney over by her pleasing and congenial presence as she hugged many, even the kids, and conferred trophies on many members of the community for all the community work they do. The ‘Main Hoon Na’ lady who wooed Shah Rukh Khan in the movie and also winner of many Supporting Best Actress performances as well as Best Actress for the movie ‘Samay’, a remarkable woman who has acted as peace ambassador for India, in January 2017 Sushmita returned as one the judges at 65th Miss Universe Pageant in Manila, Philippines.
Thanks to Friends India Entertainment Sydney got to meet the actress who was not only the Miss Universe but truly an inspiration to all. Not just women, even Sydney men were too eager to be in the picture with Sush !
