Orientation and Preparation week at UTS for Indian students

With the 2018 university year commencing shortly,  Indian students studying in Australia are being urged to attend the Orientation and Preparation Week activities  at their educational institution.

The Dean of Studies at UTS Insearch, Mr Tim Laurence, say university preparation initiatives such as Orientation Week, play an important role in helping students orient themselves to their new learning environment.  The transition from high school to higher education is a major change  for many students, and this transition is easier when it is built on solid foundations.

Dipal Patel from Ahmedabad, has just completed her Bachelor of Communication studies at the University of Technology Sydney and shares her views on her first week at UTS Insearch. “Orientation shows you what your first experience of university is going to be like and what to expect. It helped me to decide on public relations as my career track.”

At UTS Insearch, Preparation Week activities are interactive, enhance learning in the relevant course and facilitate an important sense of belonging.  Successful Indian Alumni, entrepreneur Anubhav Jain (AJ),  now living in Delhi, said he learned valuable skills which accelerated his career. “It’s a great way for students to get a small taste of study before you have the main course.”
