Ramadan Eid Bazaar on June 1 at Whitlam Centre
Eid Bazaar in Sydney is an event that celebrates the festival of Eid as thousands turn up at Whitlam Centre. This year the Bazaar is on June 1 and all the entertainment along with food stalls, Indian sweets, Indian dresses, jewellery, rides will be there to entertain the whole family who come in droves with friends and the community.
Eid-ul-Fitr, also called the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast’, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Sydney’s Muslim community comes together as they are happy to break their fast on this particular day at the Bazaar where stalls are selling an array of delicious foods that include fresh kebabs made on hot coals in front of you, Biryani, Haleem, Korma and Kofta curries and then you can top up with a ‘Seviyan’ sweet dish or even a paan made in front of you. Women can enjoy henna painting while the kids have great time with their faces painted and taking all those rides.
The Bazaar also has so many stalls selling apparel for the ladies along with jewellery and accessories such as shoes. Fashion parade is something to look forward to when everyone gathers in the hall to get a glimpse of the latest fashion paraded by beautiful young women.
The Muslim community in Liverpool area makes a great multicultural mix with people from other faiths in the area who also support the event whole heartedly. Many locals also turn up to enjoy the tasty dishes as well as buy clothes and enjoy the atmosphere. Ramadan Eid Bazaar is a celebration you ought not miss. Keep June 1 free.
