Australian Telangana Forum celebrates Telangana Cultural Night with aplomb

Australian Telangana Forum (ATF) celebrated the Telangana Formation Day in the form Telangana Cultural Night on June 1, 2019, at Ermington Community Centre in Ermington, NSW.   The occasion was celebrated amid rants “Jai Telangana” and the event was graced by The Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Lee, Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education, Member of Prospect Hon’ble Dr. Paul Joseph Hugh Mcdermott, Liberal Candidate for Chifley Mr. Livingston Chettipally and Advisor Dr. Yadu Singh (Sydney Cardiologist and President, FIAN)

Member for Strathfield – Hon’ble Ms. Jodi Mackay, Member for Granville – Hon’ble Ms. Julia Finn have were unable to attend the event however they conveyed and extended their warm greetings and wishes to the ATF Team. The event was attended by other members of the Organising Committee and ATF Office bearers.

Hugh McDermott recalled his visit to Hyderabad and spoke about how the ATF community is contributing through its culture in Sydney and reminded the audience of the sacrifices made by the Telangana Martyrs.  Mr. Livingston praised the ATF community for it’s contributions and retaining it’s culture and traditions while simultaneously assimilating in the society here.

Mr. Geoffrey Lee gave his introduction in fluent Hindi but with sentences becoming longer, he switched to English. His namaskar drew a thunderous applause from the audience. A regular at the Indian events he praised the Parliamentary system that gives communities the liberty to celebrate their religion and culture and also participate in it.

Program promptly started at 5:30pm; event ATF President Pradeep Tedla and General Secretary Kishore Panthula welcomed everyone and the ATF Family Members and Kids  sang Australian and Indian national anthems followed by candle lighting (Jyothi Prajwalana) ceremony and offered prayer to Lord Ganesha to bless the event. 

Cultural activities kick started with young kids performing to the popular numbers, with attendees cheering the performers. ATF President Pradeep Tedla, speaking on the occasion said, “I am thrilled and overjoyed with the response as ATF was established in 2006 with a vision to ‘Connect Telangana Community to promote Culture, and Commerce'”. He urged the audience to support ATF events and the team that put together the Telangana Cultural Night 2019. Later he Introduced ATF EC Team saying that without its members the event would not have been a successful one.

Kishore Panthula General Secretary of ATF, thanked everyone who came to the event and also all the performers, choreographers, sponsors and the ATF Foundation team for providing such a platform. He also thanked Indian artists who came all over from India to perform at the event  and requested younger generation to be part of ATF.
