The Red Carpet Bollywood Night 2019 – a night of style
By Rekha Rajvanshi
”˜Women can do anything that men can do but women can do it in heels’ – the saying proved true when about 350 women of all colours, shapes and sizes, dressed in scintillating cocktail dresses, holding elegant clutches walked the red carpet. Blacktown Workers’ Club echoed with women’s chatter, laughter and Bollywood beats on June 1, 2019.
Away from family and friends, in an alien country down under, anyone can get lonely and lost, especially women. Dressed up in colourful glittery outfits, sparkly jewellery, shining crystal clutches and high heels women got an opportunity to meet like-minded friends. Beautiful, intelligent, stylish and confident working women and housewives seemed to be enjoying their few hours’ freedom from never ending house hold chores, office work and children.
“We first organised this event in 2016, and it was a huge success then,” said Dolly Arora one of the organizers.
Sarika Sahgal, co-organizer added, “We realised that there was only one ladies event Sakhi Sangam; which at that time was not enough. We thought of involving young girls too who wanted to party in trendy, stylish dresses. As it gives them a networking opportunity, find new friends and grow together.”
As I entered the venue, a well-designed photo booth, surrounded by beautiful women waiting for a click, caught my eyes. Organizers greeted guests with a smile and directed them to their allocated seats. Everyone felt special as they walked on the bright red carpet. Positive vibrations could be felt throughout the hall as elegantly dressed, women walked across the red carpet with a smile.
Masters of Ceremony Aariz Jamali and Kangan Sharma diligently introduced the program and invited organizers onto the stage. Sarika and Dolly acknowledged sponsors, media and women supporters for their ongoing commitment. Glamourous dance performances by Mystic Dance Group were enjoyed by all. DJ AJ played Bollywood hit numbers and women rocked the dance floor.
This unforgettable night of music, dance, fun and laughter gave women an opportunity to de-stress and re-energise themselves.
