Office of the Premier thanks all for fighting the Coronavirus

I would firstly like to thank you all for your help in fighting the Coronavirus here in NSW.

2020 has been the most challenging year in living memory.

However, I am proud of the strength of our community and our unwavering commitment to support each other in times of need.

With your help we have conducted more than 2.5 million COVID- 19 tests since the beginning of the pandemic. I am grateful to our community who continue to come forward for testing.

Our testing has protected our loved ones, our neighbors and in part our economic livelihoods, and our community at large.

But we continue to be concerned about unknown sources of community transmission throughout NSW.

We know the COVID-19 virus remains in our community. Until we have a vaccine, the only lives we can lead will be COVID-Safe lives.

That means following NSW health advice, such as practicing physical distancing, keeping 1.5 metres away from others wherever we can, wearing facemasks when social distancing is not possible, and practicing good hand hygiene.

When we feel unwell, we must stay home. People with even the slightest symptoms of COVID-19 such as a sore or scratchy throat, fatigue or a runny nose, must also come forward for testing.

We must continue in this fight against the virus. We can only do this together.

I take this opportunity to thank each and every member of the Australian Indian community in NSW for your efforts in protecting the people of NSW and keeping us all safe.

Our community and religious leaders have been absolutely vital in sharing public health messages within their own communities. We have also seen time and time again people across diverse cultures, traditions and faiths coming together to support our most vulnerable.

I urge you to continue having conversations about COVID-19 safety with your family, friends and colleagues. We cannot afford to be complacent.

Help us save lives.
