SBS radiothon raises $24,000 for India Covid appeal

SBS’s Radiothon to support UNICEF Australia’s India COVID-19 appeal has raised more than $24,000 to date and will remain open until this Sunday 30th May.

Taking place on Friday 21st May, the Radiothon ran for six-hours across multiple programs and shared the message “India, we are with you”.

Broadcasters and producers from SBS Radio’s South Asian programs led the special coverage, in English and other languages, across radio, online, and Facebook live. The Radiothon featured interviews and special messages of support from public figures from both Australia and India.

David Hua, Director SBS Audio and Language Content, said: “We are extremely proud of what the SBS Radiothon has achieved. Our goal was to tell the important stories and bring the community together in these difficult times and we would like the thank the very diverse community for embracing and supporting this effort.”
