The Covid-19 Pandemic Event Visa (Subclass 408)
Are you working in Australia with a visa that is about to expire? Do you want to stay for an additional 6 or 12 months?
The Covid-19 Pandemic event visa (subclass 408) allows temporary visa holders to stay in Australia for up to 12 months. And better still, it’s free of charge!
What is the length of the visa?
If you are working in a critical sector, and have evidence from an employer of your employment, or an offer of employment, this visa allows you to remain in Australia and work for 12 months. Jobs in the critical sector include agriculture, food processing, health care, aged care, disability care, child care, and tourism and hospitality.
If you do not have work in one of these sectors, you are still eligible to stay in Australia for up to 6 months.
Who can apply?
Anyone in Australia who holds a visa permitting work can apply for this visa. The visa must, however, be expiring in less than 90 days or has expired in the past 28 days.
If you think you might be eligible for this visa or want to know more information, book an appointment with our team today.
