Ryde Diwali Fair ”“ a great success

The First Ever Ryde Indian Fair held on November 16, 2019 at the North Ryde Common organised by the Ryde Indian Association was a great success with over 800 people attending the fair between 12.30 pm to 8pm. It was a fun filled Family event with Amusement rides, Jumping Castle for kids, Cultural Performances throughout the day, Food Stalls and mouth watering cusine , from South and North India, including Kulfi, Jalebi and Nepali Momos, Stalls displaying Jewellery, Clothing, Property Markets, Face Painting , Henna, Wine Tasting etc.

The success was also due to the dedicated Diwali Fair team comprising of Festival Chair/Vice President Ryde Indian Association Ashritha Mani, Fair Cultural Director Shobha Ingleshwar, Executive Member Bijinder Dugal, Clr Bernard Purcell City of Ryde and Kedarnath(Kevin) Pagaddinnimath President Ryde Indian Association.

The Fair was attended by The Hon. Minister for Customer Service and State MP for Ryde Victor Dominello; Hon. Natalie Ward MLC representing the Minister for Multiculturalism; Hon Dr Geoff Lee; Hon. Rose Jackson MLC representing the Opposition Leader and Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism; Clr Bernard Purcell representing the Mayor of Ryde Jerome Laxale; Federal MP for Bennelong John Alexander; Louise Bertoni SES Hunters Hill; Deputy Mayor of Hills Shire Reena Jethi; Ryde Councillors Sarkis Yedeliyan; Bernard Purcell; Trenton Brown; Edwina Clifton, Penny Pedersen; Christopher Gordon;   Chris Moujalli; Moninder Singh from Blacktown and community leaders.

Ryde Indian Association decided to cancel the fire works scheduled for 8pm as a mark of respect to the horrific bush fires and loss of valuable lives, a minute of silence was observed during the commencement of the formal proceedings and $500 was donated to SES, Hunters Hill represented by Louise Bertoni.

Barbara Ward was thanked for organising major sponsors – Lupus Australia, SHARE and Nutrition Australia.

The Ryde Diwali Fair is here to Stay and promises to become much bigger and better in the years to come.
