Kumar Sanu

Padamshri Kumar Sanu, the most prolific singer of Bollywood who ruled our film industry during the 90s with his voice that has been a sensation across the country since the time he set foot in the Industry, was in Sydney with Sadhana Sargam to perform  a live concert.

After his first hit song from the movie ”˜Ashiqui’, there was no stopping this gifted singer, Kumar Sanu was compared with the great crooner, Kishore Kumar. He holds the Guinness Book world record for recording the most songs in one day. He has proven himself as one of the best singers in the Bollywood film Industry.

Sadhana Sargam is a well known playback singer of Indian Cinema, besides film music, she is well known for her devotional songs, classical music, ghazals, film songs and pop albums. A maharashtrian by birth Sadhana took to singing at a very young age. Sadhana Sargam is known for her songs in the famous ”˜Kal ho na ho’, ”˜Swades’, ”˜Lagaan’, ”˜Janbaaz’ and many more movies. Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam captivated the house full of audience at Sydney Whitlam Centre Liverpool last Saturday of the month on July 30, 2016. The hall was jam packed and indeed full of audience ready to lap up great music by Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam. It is frustrating that always these shows make people wait who make their way in cold weather but soon as the stars of the night came on stage it was worth the wait. MC Nitin Madan welcomed the audience with a dance performance by Swastik dance group. Evening started with beautiful songs by Rachana Chopra in her versatile voice.  Audience waited patiently for the Kumar Sanu and Sadhna Sargam to take the stage.

Kumar Sanu kicked off the musical evening with a very melodious and popular song ”˜Do dil mil rahe hai’ from movie ”˜Pardes’ the audience sang along as the legend performer began engaging the audience in the song, followed by ”˜Ashiqui’ songs. He also included other hit songs such as ”˜Ek ladki ko dekha’, ”˜Dil hai ki manta nahi’, ”˜Tumhe apna banane ki kasam khayee hai’, ”˜Yeh kali kali ankhe’ and many more. Kumar Sanu seemed exhausted yet amazed the audience by his outstanding performance.

The moment Sadhana Sargam stepped on the stage she captivated her audience with her heart warming smile. She delighted the audience when she sang ”˜Pehla nasha’ from movie ”˜Jo jeeta wahi sikandar’. She sang her famous numbers such as ”˜Mahi ve’, ”˜Saat samundar paar main tere’, ”˜Chanda re chanda re’ and many more. There was so much energy and she is an amazing performer.

The first duet of the evening by Kumar Sanu & Sadhana Sargam was my most favourite song ”˜Jab koi baat bigad jaye jab koi mushkil pad jaye tum dena sath mera o humnawa’, it proved to be the crowd’s favourite as well, the fact that lyrics say exactly what human beings have been saying to their loved ones for as long as one can remember. You can’t find meaningful music like this anymore. Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam rendered many hit songs together. Their performance not only took music lovers of 90s’music down the memory lane but the concert by the magical duo left audience asking for more.

The Concert was enjoyable except that the sound quality was unreasonably poor. Chopra Productions, SWRG Events & Vinart Events in Association with Friends India Entertainment brought Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam and thus gave Sydney a fantastic Everlasting Memories Concert.  Yet it could have been top notch if the sound system applied on the night was of better quality than provided. People at the back complained that they could not hear that well.

The concert was sponsored by Himalaya Restaurant; Simeran Singh;  Fortune World Travel;  Sanjay Deshwal Australian Visa & Migration; Curry Lovers Restaurant; Harish Prasad; Deeyang Sharma and Raunak Motor Service.
