IABCA 2017 honours finalists at Maritime Museum

India Australia Business & Community Awards 2017 finalists were honoured at a gala Star reception at the Australian National Maritime Museum on Friday August 25, 2017. Actual ahead of the main awards ceremony will take place on October 13, 2017 in Brisbane this year. The event attended by 200 guests to honour achievements of IABCA Finalists who came from across the nation to celebrate Indo-Australian relationship. IABC Awards started out in 2014 and now have become an annual and a very much looked forward to event.
The IABCA Stars, a special event, showcases the calibre and breadth of talent from across the nation. This is the third year in a row that the Museum’s ”˜Welcome Wall’ has partnered with IABCA to host the event. The Welcome Wall stands in honour of all those who have migrated from around the world to live in Australia. As a multicultural nation with one in four of Australia’s twenty three million people born overseas, it is a celebration of diversity. The wall allows today’s Australians to pay tribute to the migrant forebearers, family members and friends by having their name inscribed on it. Currently there are over 27,000 names on its bronze panels, hundreds of whom hail from India.
SBS news presenter Kumud Merani was the emcee of the night, superb in handling the program she engaged the audience skilfully. Guest speakers included Premier of New South Wales the Hon. Gladys Berejiklian, Senator the Hon. Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Consul General of India in Sydney Mr B. Vanlalvawna, Museum director Kevin Sumption, Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Sunil Lal, Chairman, Barker Henley and IABCA producer and director Sonia Gandhi.
Travel Agency of the year, Pricebeat Travel, are one of the finalists them being the only travel agencies in Australia who have a maximum number of positive reviews on Google, the owner Amit Sharma said, “It is such an amazing opportunity to shine a spotlight on what we can do for Australia and the acknowledgement of the hard work that our team here do every day in innovating within our business venture.” Business woman of the year finalist Nita Tanna Decor-A- Shaan said, “I am honoured to be a finalist and it’s a wonderful way to have my passion recognised and celebrated.”
The event also acknowledged the valuable contribution made by the IABCA board, its panel of experts and its youth ambassadors of the IABCA platform. Winners will be announced at the IABCA black tie gala night on Friday 13 October at Brisbane City Hall. IABC Awards celebrate Australia India relationship as Indian community in Australia, individuals as well as businesses, exchange their stories of success, entrepreneurial ideas, and community leadership with fellow finalists, industry leaders and dignitary guests, the night promises glamour, fine food, wine and entertainment including an international performance by The Kutle Khan Project, a unique collective of Rajasthani folk musicians. Kutle Khan is a multi-talented a folk musician who has also performed on various stages across the world and were part of ”˜Confluence, a festival of India’ in Australia.
