Our tinsel town is also getting a lot of attention from Hollywood, with a list of actors and singers joining the Bollywood bandwagon. After Kylie Minogue, Tania Zaetta, Denise Richards, Sylvestor Stallone and Snoop Dogg making cameo appearances in our films recently, we have many more of A-list stars making their Bollywood debut.

Drew Barrymore

Charlie’s Angels star Drew Barrymore will play a pivotal role in Santosh Kumar Jain’s ”˜The Lifestyle, a film about three women from different walks of life trying to assert their identities. Barrymore will play a foreigner in the film. The other two will be top Indian actresses. While the producer acclaims that the river Ganga is in the backdrop throughout the film, the major parts will be shot in US, Haridwar and Benaras. The film will also have music from a range of top India and international music stars. Set to be released in 2012, Drew’s fans can’t wait to see her shooting in India!

Nicholas Cage

Oscar winner Nicholas Cage, one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood has been signed to play a lead role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s English directorial venture Broken Horses. Broken Horses is an English-language film about two brothers embroiled in the drug trade on the U.S.-Mexico border. It is said to be a loose remake of Chopra’s acclaimed 1989 film Parinda, which starred Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor. Hollywood action man Mickey Rourke has reportedly been approached for an important role in it. The film will be shot in New Mexico and New York.

Ben Kingsley

British actor Sir Ben Kingsley, best-known for his Oscar-winning performance as Gandhi made his comeback in Teen Patti starring Amitabh Bachchan, R. Madhavan, Raima Sen and Shraddha Kapoor. “You (Indian films) have very distinct styles of cinema. You have your popular Bollywood movies which are loved by the massive Indian diaspora. So your filmmaking is perceived in different ways in the Western world. They have great popularity among Western audiences,” Kingsley had told IANS.

Shakira

The ”˜Hips Don’t lie’ singer Shakira who’s famous for her sizzling belly dance moves is now set to sizzle in Bollywood as an actress! The Columbian singer will play goddess Kaali in an Indian film called Kaali – The Warrior Goddess. The film will be produced by Karan Arora, CEO of High Ground Entertainment Ltd. Kaali- The Warrior Goddess will be a 3D motion film shot in London, or then in a city in Eastern Europe.

Akon

American singer Akon is composing and singing for Shah Rukh Khan’s sci-fiction film Ra.One. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the composers are the famous duo Vishal-Shekhar.   Though his visit was kept hush-hush, the singer said he plans to work more with Indian music directors.
