How will India go in T20 World Cup after winning their first two matches?

India has started her T20 World Cup campaign promisingly after winning their first two matches. Currently they lead Group 2 with four points.

After beating arch rivals Pakistan by four wickets off the final ball – a match to cherish as a crowd of over 90,000 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground cheered lustily. India continued her winning ways by beating Netherland by 56 runs.

On Sunday they meet a strong opposition, South Africa, in Perth.

Former batting legend Sunil Gavaskar reckons that Team India would be a bit worried about the form of opening batter KL Rahul, who is yet to play a double figure innings in the T20 World Cup 2022. After getting dismissed by Naseem Shah against Pakistan, Rahul fell to Paul van Meekeren against the Netherland. In these two games, Rahul has scored measly13 runs at a poor average of 6.50.

Apart from that, Gavaskar reckons the Men in Blue are strong on most fronts. He was happy to see Rohit Sharma and Arshdeep Singh perform well against Netherland.

“Let’s talk about the way India are shaping up. It’s so good to see Rohit Sharma get some runs the other day, it’s so good to see Arshdeep bowling the way he did. Ashwin and Axar Patel got some wickets. So, everybody who didn’t have a great match against Pakistan, have come back well,” Gavaskar was quoted in India Today.

He added that despite his low scores Rahul is a class act.

India’s next match is against South Africa on Sunday 30 at the Perth Stadium followed by against Bangladesh at Adelaide on November 2 followed by against Zimbabwe at Melbourne on the 6th November.

Apart from South Africa, India appears certain to defeat Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to qualify for the semi-final.

Virat Kohli is in sublime form scoring 144 runs in two matches without getting out, playing aggressive innings of 62 and 82.
