Mana Dave wins 2012 NZ Hairdresser of the Year Award

Mana Dave, Creative Director and co-owner of Blaze Salon was named NZ Hairdresser of the Year at the prestigious 2012 Schwarzkopf Professional  Hair Expo awards in Sydney last night.

Held on 11th June 2012, the award – which is held annually to salute Australasia’s finest in hair – crowned Mana for the third time. He won the New Zealand Hair Expo Hairdresser of the Year in 2005 and 2010 and was the first international artist selected by Redken 5th Avenue New York to be part of the Redken International Symposium, presenting with UK hair legend Lee Stafford.

Mana was selected to be part of the 2012 International Mentorship Program where he is mentored by Redken Global Artistic Directors in New York. In April 2012 he was a winner at the Redken Club 5th Avenue awards in Dunedin where BLAZE won NZ Salon of the Year amongst Redken salons of New Zealand.

Mana’s Hair Styles

Mana says in an interview that he got into hairdressing by accident as he worked in his fist job at a men’s boutique where he gained a really strong insight into the day to day running of the salon environment, the interaction with clients and the creativity achieved in a relatively short timeframe. He says about being hairstylist that ‘It’s a career that is both creative and people focussed’.

“There’s a real “feel good” factor to what we do. You have the ability to impact the way a person feels about themselves because of a look that you create for them, you can change their state of mind ”“ it’s such an amazing experience.”
