Don your best sari and be the star at  ”˜Starry Sari Night’ as Bollywood down under unfolds with a free movie screening, entertainment food and festivities in Liverpool.

Liverpool’s George Street will come alive with ”˜Starry Sari Night’ – a free event to include a Bollywood film and plenty of fun on Saturday 31 August 2013, 4pm-9pm on George Street Liverpool.Liverpool City Mayor, Ned Mannoun, said that the festivities will feature the well-known and popular Bollywood film Om Shanti Om screened at nightfall (6.30pm).

The colourful celebrations will include pre-movie entertainment, Bollywood Dance Workshop,   dance floor, Bollywood music clips, food stalls, guest appearances from Zenia Starr, Miss India Australia 2013, G-LuV, Bollywood Star and Anupam Sharma, Australia’s Bollywood Expert.

“Starry Sari Night aims to bring everyone in Liverpool together to celebrate George Street’s unique character as well as enjoy a thrilling night of Bollywood entertainment.”

“Celebrations like these are part of Council’s strategy to make the Liverpool City Centre more active and vibrant, particularly during evenings and on weekends.”

”˜With exciting events like Starry Sari Night we can all join in and celebrate that Liverpool is a Liveable Safer City,” said the Mayor.

“With the involvement of local businesses and the wider community Council is confident that the city centre will develop a burst of Bollywood fever and I encourage everyone to join in the revelry,” he added.

Council would like to thank local businesses, community and Indian organisations for their ongoing contribution to Liverpool and for their support of this event.

George Street, Liverpool will be shut down to traffic for the afternoon to set up a Bollywood dance floor and giant movie screen to enhance the festival atmosphere, activate the city centre and provide easier pedestrian access to stalls.

This event is proudly supported by Global Indian Talent, Eros International and SBS Radio. The selected movie is classified M and recommended for mature audiences.
