Sunny Leone at the UIA Mela!

Sydney community was angry that a former porn star and now actress in her own right Sunny Leone, of Indian Punjabi  heritage from Canada, was advertised as the star attraction on UIA Mela’s Australia-India Friendship Fair at Olympic Park on August 25. Sunny was here in Sydney to check up on the movie she is about to shoot in Sydney in October. In the movie titled ”˜Rait’ means ‘sand’ in Hindi, ”˜Jism 2’ heroine Sunny plays the main role against Arjun Rampal with Bobby Khan as the director. But soon seeing the community’s response UIA avoided from presenting Sunny on stage though she was a hot property and attraction as many came to meet her in the VIP lounge with her German husband Daniel who is quite handsome yet overly protective of his beautiful wife. Perhaps Sunny has already picked up enough publicity as local India community will follow the movie’s release with keen interest.

Another controversy is kicking up in Sydney as Yo Yo Honey Singh’s news, about his visit to Sydney with Shahrukh and Madhuri Dixit in the concert ”˜Temptation Reloaded’ on October 7, is also rife in the Indian community about his vulgar songs that he has been claimed to have sung. Though he totally denies it.

According to the notice issued by the singer’s counsel, Honey Singh alias Hirdesh Singh has claimed that the lewd song is not in any way connected to his screen name Yo Yo Honey Singh as “perceived otherwise by fans and public at large.”

The notice also states that anyone who has sung or recorded the song using Honey Singh’s screen identity will face legal action. The notice also accuses “anti-social elements and miscreants” of attempting to malign the rapper’s image, which the singer adds, has taken a heavy toll on his social and personal life.

The Nawanshahr police had earlier this month booked Honey Singh for singing lewd songs under section 294 of the IPC (obscene acts and songs) after it was pulled up by the Punjab and Haryana High Court for not taking action on a complaint filed in January, this year, by Parvinder Singh Kitna of the Punjab Human Empowerment League (HELP).

The court had slammed the singer after reading the lyrics of his songs. The FIR registered in Nawanshahr city police station had mentioned that his songs were crossing all limits of decency and particularly singled out Main Hoon Balatkari, stating that the number provoked sexual violence against women.

The Yo Yo singer shared that the song is present on YouTube since February 2008 and that he has made repeated complaints to get it removed from the portal however nothing has been done about it. He has now asked the authorities to take stern action against the site for streaming such illicit content. He also wants that the man impersonating him in the video should be located and prosecuted.

It is strange that while Honey Singh gets the rap actor Imran Khan with Genelia D’Souza in the movie ”˜Jaane tu ya jaane’ has been superimposed with vulgar wordings of Honey Singh’s rap  and the song having been watched by over 3,00,000 visitors on youtube. People do go to such length to generate publicity when girls in India are being gang raped on a daily basis. It is sad to hear  and feel responsible for the recent Mumbai rape case of a photojournalist which is in the news these days by us all!
