Australia to host ICC World Cricket Cup and The Asian Cup

Australia, in 2015, will host the two biggest sporting events with our favourite game of Cricket and the Games of Football ”“ the ICC Cricket World Cup in February and The Asian Cup in January.  12 Teams from cricketing countries as well as football have already qualified and will head down under early next year as Sydney and New Castle become the hosting hubs for some of the cricket matches and football tournaments.

  • The ICC Cricket World Cup will be the biggest sporting event in the world in 2015.
  • This is a once in a generation opportunity to see the best players and best teams going head to head in our back yard.
  • Sydney will hosting five matches including two finals.
  • 12 teams have already qualified: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe. Two other teams are yet to qualify.
  • Tournament dates: 14 February ”“ 29 March 2015 (that’s just 400 days to go!)

  • This is the biggest football tournament Australia has ever hosted.
  • The Asian Cup will see 32 games of football in 23 days in five host cities between Asia’s best 16 nations.
  • Of the five host cities, two are in NSW ”“ Sydney and Newcastle.
  • 12 teams have already qualified: Australia, Japan, Korea Republic, DPR Korea, Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan. A further four spots are still at stake.
  • Tournament dates: 9 ”“ 31 January 2015 (that’s just one year to go!)
