International Film and Entertainment Festival Australia (IFEFA), co-founded by Amarinder Bajwa and Maxine Salma, an upcoming inaugural film festival from 7th Nov to 16th Nov 2014 was launched at NSW parliament house, Sydney on September 18, 2014. The Film Festival is first of its kind in Sydney, NSW.

”˜Experience the incredible cinematic art and events during its 10 days’ duration,” said Amarinder Bajwa and Maxine Salma when they announced it to invited guests, select media and members of the Indian community.

With the most impressive line-up of actors, directors and producers Inaugural IFEFA aims to bring many stars together  – a line up of  Bollywood personalities that Sydney has never witnessed before quipped Mr Bajwa.

In his opening remarks  Hon. Geoff Lee MP Parramatta applauded the efforts of the pioneering team of Bajwa and Maxine to celebrate and showcase the cinematic art from South Asia in Sydney, “I admire the efforts of Amarinder Bajwa and Maxine Salma who have put together this event after a long planning and efforts,” he said.

Hon Laurie Fergusson MP, member for Werriwa recollected his days of going to movies and wished a great success to the event.

Mr Arun Jagatramka, advisor IFEFA excitedly opened the festival with his account of Bollywood cinema, its development and delved into the brief history of Indian cinema.

IFEFA is an independent initiative to celebrate world cinema in the southern hemisphere. It aims to provide an opportunity to showcase movies from around the world that are high on art and content and may or may not be shown in cinemas. IFEFA also attempts to celebrate the cinematic art and awards to the most original and creative films and artists in the entertainment industry.

The mission for IFEFA is  – ”˜to support bold, visionary filmmakers, advance the art form of film and new media, and engage communities with remarkable cinematic experiences’.

IFEFA is providing an opportunity to the upcoming local talent that have aspirations in script writing, acting, directing, camera and all other components of film making in their hands on 15 day workshop in the ”˜Screen Lab’

Conducted by the Bollywood trainer, director and actor Vipin Sharma of ”˜Tare Zameen Par’ fame, and Sandeep Malani of Malani Talkies; ”˜Screen Lab’ will provide an opportunity to create a short film or a feature film depending upon the script developed in the screen lab by the participants. ”˜It will be complete hands on experience for making a film’ says Maxine Salma.

IFEFA 2014 is dedicated to 100 years of Indian cinema. There is a large musical drama being staged with 100 years history highlighted by number of musical hits with audio videos. The ”˜100 years of Indian cinema’ is a grand musical choreographed, directed and produced by Sandeep Malani and coordinated by Maxine Salma. This will be a brilliant and nostalgic compilation of the history of Indian cinema.

IFEFA also brings Mr Shahid Rafi, son of the singing legend Mohammad Rafi who will direct a musical night dedicated to Mr Mohammad Rafi along with the local Rafi singers. This nostalgic night is not to be missed that will showcase love, romance, loss and happiness expressed in the songs by the legend. A number of stars would be attending the tribute to the Legend Mohammad Rafi.

IFEFA is also holding its first ”˜Dance Competition’ and a male/female ”˜Pageant’ during the show. The event is full on with the auditions and finalists being judged by the Bollywood stars.

The closing night on 16th November will be the grand finale of the festival with over 12 stars attending with a red carpet event, heaps of entertainment, awards and crowning of the winners of dance competition and the pageant.

Stars attending the 10 day event include Bipasha Basu, Gulshan Grover, Sunil Shetty, Zarine Khan, Eisha Gupta, Neha Sharma, Aftab Shivdasani, new face and highly talented Rekha Rana, Asha Sachdev, Vipin Sharma, Sandeep Malani, Jasmine Panjwani, Harvinder Mankkar, Rekha Rana, Prakash Raj and many more.

IFEFA will continue to fascinate, entertain, educate and inspire with its 10 day program playing out at venues across the Sydney. IFEFA will be an annual event and is not funded, IFEFA management is seeking funds from the private sources and sponsors.
