A crime scene was established and investigated by specialist forensic officers.

No one was injured during the incident.

About 12.20pm on  Wednesday 22 April 2015, following investigations, an 18-year-old South Granville man was arrested in Burwood and taken to Burwood Police Station.

The gunman was in such a hurry he ran onto the road, slammed his hands on a car that was forced to abruptly stop, but in the process left his fingerprints.

It is believed the man ran to a nearby getaway car.

The target of the attack was an immigration consultancy firm, the owner concealing his identity out of fear.

As workers in the immigration consultant’s office hid when 8 bullet shots were fired the police cordoned off the area with people stranded in restaurants and businesses around the shooting scene for hours.

Following the gunman’s arrest, police executed a search warrant at a home on Hudson Street, South Granville, where a number of items were seized, and will undergo forensic examinations.

The man was charged with fire firearm with disregard for safety and was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 23 April 2015.

Though the police has acted swiftly in regards to this shooting incident and nabbing the culprit within a week, it has left the local Indian community asking more questions about the unsolved stabbing murder of Prabha Arun Kumar which is now  seven weeks old.
