Johny Lever is an Indian actor and great comedian. Johny Lever was born in Andhra Pradesh, he spent his early age in Yakutpura an old city of Hyderabad from where he learnt the unique style of comedy and acting. That’s how he developed a passion for mimicry and stand up comedy, inspired by watching comedians Johny Walker, Kishore Kumar and Mehmood in films and through mimicry artists Dinesh Hingoo and Narella Venumadhav on stage. His talent and success grew gradually and the multi talented man has since become famous as a stand up comedian and he was then offered films instantly. Johny Lever has won several awards and has also performed in a charity show ”˜Hope 86’. He has been awarded not only for his talent but also for his generosity as a human being.

On Saturday May 2, Johny Lever Comedy show was held at UNSW. Well known MC Sur Sangam host Nitin Madan and an upcoming Bollywood actress Roushika Reikhi welcomed the audience with performance by comedian Sumeet Shinde who was just outstanding. As we anxiously waited for the king of comedy Johny Lever to take the stage, he arrived at 8 30 pm, though he apologised to his fans for being late but once when started, the audience were falling off their chairs and laughed all the way till late at night.

Johny Lever made nonstop jokes as the crowd and entire venue surged with excitement. It was much needed in the grim rainy weather that was depressing Sydneysiders for days. His fresh ”˜lateefe’ had us all in splits. While it poured outside it was all jokes and fun inside the hall. Johny Lever is a true genius and an  amazing mimicry artist with a storehouse of  funny jokes. He moves effortlessly from one item to another a stand up comedian whose observation and acting is just spot on. His  Saroj Khan mimicry was immaculate and utterly hilarious. He also surprised everyone  with amazing dance antics.

Johny Lever’s daughter Jamie Lever has her father’s genes and wittiness as she can perform  an equal amazing mimicry and more and keep the audience entertained with lots of funny jokes. She was quite popular as she got many hugs and selfies from the female audience after the show. During the press conference Johny Lever said, “I feel very proud as a father when my daughter is being recognised for her talent and hard work”.

It was an exciting experience meeting Johny Lever in person. I was impressed by his humour, energy and his genuine love and appreciation of his fans. Organiser of the event Alpesh Prajapati and his team managed the whole event quite well though there were a few glitches. All in all it was a memorable evening full of jokes, mimicry and laughter.  Two for the price of one ”“ Johnny Lever and his daughter Jamie Lever what more could one ask.
