QUT partners with Australia India Institute

QUT has become the first Queensland branch of the Australia India Institute (AII) in a move to strengthen research links and partnerships with one of the world’s largest economies. Led by  QUT Business School, the partnership offers opportunities for collaborative research and training to enhance understanding and cooperation between Australia and India on trade, scientific, political, cultural, educational and social issues.

Established at the University of Melbourne in 2009, the AII is Australia’s only national centre for research on India.

QUT Business School Executive Dean,  Professor Robina Xavier, said QUT’s involvement with the AII came at a key time in the relationship between Australia and India.

“The value of trade between Australia and India is nearly $16 billion and India’s rapid growth offers an abundance of opportunities for Australian business,” she said.

“QUT is delighted to be working alongside the AII in its bid to build Australia’s understanding of this dynamic and fast-growing economy.

“As well as expanding the potential for collaborative research, particularly in the area of business, the partnership opens the door to QUT hosting seminars and other events with Indian VIPs on visits to Queensland.”

The AII has existing nodes at La Trobe University and the University of New South Wales.
