Priyanka to present at Oscars on February 28

India’s official Oscar entry for this year – the National Award-winning  Court  – made an early exit from the nominations race but there’s still reason to cheer – actress Priyanka Chopra will be at Hollywood’s big day, presenting an award.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has been named as one of the presenters at the 88th Academy Awards this year, the event’s official website said in  Los Angeles.

Priyanka, who has garnered praises for her role in American TV series “Quantico”, is one of the 13 people named as the presenters.

The other names include: Steve Carell, Quincy Jones, Byung-hun Lee, Jared Leto, Julianne Moore, Olivia Munn, Margot Robbie, Jason Segel, Andy Serkis, J.K. Simmons, Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon.

Indian movies that have made to the Oscar nominations are Mother India. Salaam Bombay  and  Lagaan whereas other classical movies such as Madhumati, Mughal-e-Azam, Garam Hawa, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Apur Sansar, Mahanagar, Guide, Amrapali, Aakhri Khat, Majhli Didi, Daiva Magan, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Reshma Aur Shera, Upahaar, Saudagar, Devdas, Paheli, Manthan, Sarransh, Heena, Rudali, Rang De Basanti, Peepli Live, The Good Road, Jeans, Earth and Liar’s Dice have been some of the official entries by India that failed to make to the final nominations.

Films made by Hollywood such as Richard Attenborough’s ”˜Gandhi’ won 8 Oscars including the Best Picture, Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire also 8 with A R Rahman getting two for his music score and the song Jai Ho with David Lean’s Passage to India winning two academy awards

This years’ Oscars will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock and will take place in Los Angeles on February 28.
