Yoga at Sydney harbour on International Yoga Day
International Day of Yoga (IDY) was jointly organised and celebrated with great enthusiasm in Sydney on June 21, 2016 by the India Tourism, Sydney, Consulate General of India, Sydney and World yoga day Australia. It was held at Sydney opera house.
The programme began with the screening of PM Modi’s message on the occasion of IDY. Brief message was delivered by Consul General Sh. B. Vanlalvawna followed by a Kathak dance of India and Didjeridoo of Australia.
The complete sequence contained in the common yoga protocol comprising yogasanas, Pranayama and mantra chanting was screened for an audience close to a gathering of a 1000 who performed yoga with the guidance of Yoga teachers. People showed curiosity in visiting Yoga Ashrams of India to know more about this 5000 year old tradition of Ancient India.
The event created a lot of enthusiasm in the Australian yoga enthusiasts. Representatives of various organizations participated in the event which was covered by local TV, Radio channels and
the ethnic media.
