Gautam wins ”˜Jhalak Dikhla jaa’ Australia Spotlight 2016

On Sunday September 11, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Australia Spotlight 2016 dance competition was held at Parra Villa Function Lounge, Parramatta by Viacom 18 Colors Television and their Event partner, The Elegant Creations, an academy run by Dr. Madhvi Mohindra. Dr. Madhvi Mohindra, a double PhD in music, wrote her thesis on ”˜Positive Effects of Music” on stress, depression and anxiety and “Musical Aspects of Haryanvi Folk Dance, started to teach Indian classical and folk music and dances of India to children of Indians settled in Australia. Recently Colors Indian TV channel has signed her for the talent hunt showcasing young talent of Australia.

Madhavi 1The dance competition is open to all Indian residents of Australia in solo participation for age groups 12 years and above. The audience of more than hundred and media representatives attended the event. The event was hosted by three emcees – charming young Mrinalini Mohindra and Rupali Mohindra and handsome Kashif Harrison, as they welcomed the audience and introduced all three judges to the audience. The competition was opened by Divya Saxena the winner of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Australia Spotlight 2015 who got a chance to fly Mumbai and spent a day with celebrity choreographer Deepak and attended a dance workshop with him.

The three judges comprised of: Kavita Mishra, Divya Dhingra and Rishi Deepak as they sat on this competition which brought out the best of Sydney talent competing to get a spot and a limelight on Indian TV channel. Dance is a form of expression that transcends all age groups, mindset and backgrounds- it brings out the happiness in one’s soul. On the day the audience witnessed amazing dance talent that ranged from Bollywood to hip hop, folk and Indian classical dance.

The top five contestants Gautam Kaul, Preeti Bhatia, Sarah Paul, Niharika Goyal and Sona Iqbal faced a challenging round where they all had to perform on the same song together. The five finalists danced their heart out with Gautam, an audience favourite from the very start as the competition progressed. Gautam proved himself to be not just a great actor, model but also a wonderful dancer as well. Other four contestants also wowed the judges with their flawless dance moves. But the ”˜Bollywood Stars SBS’ fame Gautam Kaul was declared the winner of Jhalalk Dikhla jaa Australia Spotlight 2016 with Niharika Goyal taking home the first runner up title. Gautam wins an all-expense paid trip to Mumbai with once in a lifetime opportunity to get featured on Colors Australia.

After winning the title of Jhalak dikhla Jaa Gautam Kaul thanked his parents, friends and all his supporters.  He said, “I will be travelling to Mumbai soon and looking forward to the dance workshop with my favourite choreographer in the Jhalak House.”

Gautam will also get the chance to witness live shooting of the show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. 28-year-old Gautam Kaul known as G-Luv, was one of the four finalists in Bollywood Stars on SBS TV in 2012. Now with this win his dream to perform on an Indian TV channel will come true.

Co-founder of Elegant Creations Vikram Mohindra thanked sponsors, media, audience and judges who attended the event. Director of Elegant Creations Madhvi said, “This competition aims to provide local dance enthusiasts with a global platform to display their creativity.”
