PM Turnbull: Holi unites people irrespective of religion or nationality
Message from Prime Minister Turnbull on the occasion of Holi
I am pleased to extend my warmest wishes to all those celebrating Holi, the colourful and vibrant festival welcoming the beginning of the northern Spring.
Each year, this occasion is a chance for Hindus around the world to gather together ”“ to dance, celebrate with family and friends and revel in the wonderful spectacle of throwing Gulal.
Yet Holi unites people irrespective of religion or nationality, in a celebration of friendship, harmony and goodwill.
Like so many of our cultural celebrations, Holi is a chance to acknowledge our diversity, and to celebrate the respect we have for each other as human beings.
It is no accident that Australia has become the most successful multicultural nation in the world. Together, we have created a remarkable achievement ”“ a nation bound by shared commitment to tolerance, inclusion and peace.
In that spirit, I congratulate everyone who has worked so hard to make this festival a success, and wish everyone a happy Holi.
The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP
Prime Minister of Australia
