Mangoes from India arrive

We are approaching winters down under. But mango lovers can enjoy our tasty Indian crop of mangoes right here in Sydney. They have arrived here from India on popular demand.

Mangoes from India have been exported to Australia for the first time, with the inaugural consignment of around 400 trays landing in Sydney this week. The second consignment will reach Perth next week. With growing demand and supply – it will beat last years level and reach around 50,000 tonnes says APEDA.

The first consignment contains kesar variety and dubbed as the ‘king of mangoes’, ‘Alphonso’ variety will reach Australia in coming few weeks. All supply will have treatment with irradiation prior to export. The independent retailers are making a bee line for supply of the fruit – the major supermarkets are yet to take off.
