Lean In is helping newly arrived migrant women
The Lean In Inc Lighthouse event held on 26 th August at Coronation Club Burwood, aimed at empowering migrant women, was a resounding success.
The Lean In Inc team comprising of Sue Advani, Gauri Ahuja,Urvashi Arora, Ekta Nankani, Sunaina Chand Gowan and Kiran Jassal successfully delivered a program that was well received by all those who attended.
Lean In Inc, a not for profit community organisation is dedicated to support newly arrived migrant women.The organisation aims to develop the skills, knowledge and support of migrant women so they themselves can reach their potential both professionally and socially.
The speakers comprising of Sherief Razzaque, Kavita Mishra, Soraya Raju, Azita Abdollahian, Kamal Sarma and Rinku Razdan inspired the audience with their success stories as well providing valuable information to help new migrants with attaining employment.
The event was also attended by Jodi McKay member for Strathfield who spoke about the importance of women supporting each other and not to pull other women down.
The event was sponsored by the Sydney Sindhi Association and Fortune World Travel. Raffles were donated by Manjit’s Restaurant, Chatkazz, Roopanter, Belicious and Unique Beauty Parlour.
The room, a sea of blue and purple, the theme for the day, was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm.
Lean In Inc looks forward to organising workshops early next year with the aim of supporting newly arrived migrant women to gain skills and tools to obtain employment as well as provide them with information to help them settle in Australia.
