Another Kohli century, another India win

By Kersi Meher-Homji

Somehow Virat Kohli and India have become synonymous in the last few years. Whenever Kohli bats well, India wins.

In the first One Day International (ODI) at Durban last night, Kohli scored a polished century against South Africa and India won by six wickets with 27 balls in hand.

South Africa batted well and totalled 8 for 269, a challenging score. Their skipper Faf du Plessis hit 120 runs with 11 fours and two sixes. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the most successful bowler with a 3 for 34 haul.

As if saying, “Whatever Plessis scores, I can do it better”, Kohli smashed 112 runs with 10 fours. With Ajinkya Rahane (79 runs with five fours and two sixes) he added 189 winning runs for the third wicket.

Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match. He has played ODIs in nine countries and has registered hundreds in all nine countries.

The second of the six ODIs starts on Sunday at Centurion.
