By Manju Mittal

Appurv Gupta an IT professional and the Indian stand-up comedian by passion, came to Sydney with his gifted talent to perform live for the Sydneysiders on February 9, 2019 at Carlingford Community Centre. Appurv Gupta is considered as one of the best comedians in India. Owner of JRPM Events Rachit Dhingra and his team presented Guptaji to us Sydneysiders.

In today’s world when stories of violence, gore abound there are a few who make it their profession to make other people laugh, and they make everyone laugh out loud as Guptaji needs no introduction. There are a rare few like him who make it their profession to lighten the life momentarily and make people forget their worries through laughter.

Appruv is a graduate of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology Noida. He completed his engineering in 2012 and chose to be a stand up comedian. With over 1000 plus shows across 70 cities and hundred plus clients, Forbes India had listed Appruv in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 Nominees list. He has been acknowledged not only for his talent but also for his generosity as a human being.

Charming and very talented Aviti was Emcee for the evening as she welcomed the audience with solo singing performance by Kunal Sachdeva. Kunal’s melodic voice touched the chord with the audience. Guptaji’s performance started at 8 pm but when he took the stage, the audience were falling off their chairs with laughter for most of the night. Guptaji is truly a genius who can perform such amazing banter and keep the audience entertained with genuinely funny jokes. The audience was constantly laughing. There was so much energy, he just made non stop jokes as the crowd and the entire venue surged with excitement.

Fred Jameson enthralled the audience with his magical dance moves on popular Bollywood song Lungi, Emcee Aviti joined him and they drew loud cheers from the audience.  It was a rare opportunity to witness the liveliest show full of energy. The show was enjoyable except that the sound quality was unreasonably poor.

Appurv Gupta proved to be a real great comedian on the night of his comedy show ”˜Pyar ek dhoka hai’.  Audience enjoyed an exceptional experience of the peak summers on the night prior to Valentine Day week. We are lucky to have such great present day comedian come on our shores to entertain us.
