Multicultural Month will be celebrated at Fed Square during the month of November with an online calendar of events celebrating Diwali and NAIDOC Week, plus African music and culture, Persian cooking classes, Bollywood dancing, Origami making and much more.

On 7 November, Celebrate India Inc. invites you to join them spread joy and positivity in the community with a virtual Festival of Diwali. This year’s program will include many talented artists from Victoria, interstate and India bringing you the colorful folk, traditional, classical dances and live music performances India is known for. Sunday 8 November is the launch NAIDOC Week with the Bak’bidi Festival. Experience fascinating insights into life in Ramingining – from the swamplands in Arnhem Land comes this special virtual presentation. For more information visit https://fedsquare.com/events/naidoc-week

Monday 9 November at 9.30am – take part in the annual NAIDOC Week flag raising ceremony. The event at Fed Square will include a Messages from Community Elders, a Smoking Ceremony, a Welcome to Country and Live Music. On Tuesday 10 November, Deakin University will host a live stream NAIDOC talkFirst Nations Art and Storytelling: Celebration of Indigenous Knowledge and Culture. Hosts, Tom Molyneux and Kiri Wicks share the Deakin Edge stage with two amazing Aboriginal artists painting and completing artworks from beginning to end during the live stream. There will be featured speakers and artists sharing their own work and stories throughout the day.  The nature of this live event means people can virtually drop in over the course of the day. On Saturday 15 November at 7pm the Milingimbi Gatjirrk Festival will livestream via Fed Square website and broadcast live on the digital façade. Be transported to the heart of the Crocodile Islands in Arnhem Land for this special presentation of Milingimbis Gatjirrk Festival. On Wednesday 18 November jump online between 7.30-8.30pm for a live Bollywood Dancing lesson with Jhoom Bollywood.  These sessions will take place Wednesday – 18 Nov, 25 Nov, 2 Dec and 9 Dec.

Thursday 19th November between 6pm – 7.30pm take part in the Free to Feed Persian and Assyrian Community Cooking Experiences. Also taking place Sunday the 29th of November, 11.30am – 1pm.

On Thursday 26 November at 2pm, Melbourne Fashion Week in partnership with Bella Management and Fed Square, will host a pop-up Runway at Fed Square. The Unsigned Model Search will focus on inclusivity, inviting those who might otherwise be excluded or marginalised due to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio- economic status, age, physical abilities, and religion. Model and body positive activist Stefania Ferrario and First Nation’s recording artist Mitch Tambo will be joining the pop-up runway event at Fed Square as Guest Ambassadors.
