Sydney goes Sufiana in April

Sai Creative Arts Network (SCREAN) after having held a ghazal night with Rachna Bhatnagar and Suhas Mahajan last December which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, now presents Sufiana ”“ A night of Sufi music.

Rachna will be singing  Sufi music renditions as Sydney siders gear up for a night of devotional music inspired by the works of Sufi poets, like Rumi, Hafiz, Bulleh Shah, Amir Khusrow and Khwaja Ghulam Farid. Sufi love songs are often performed as ghazals and Kafi, a solo genre accompanied by percussion and harmonium, using a repertoire of songs by Sufi poets.

Rachna will be accompanied by singers Heena Sachdeva and young male singers as the talented Raman Hiroo, Sadiq Rehmani, Lalit Mehra and Gagandeep. These are exceptional singers of Sydney who will be presenting a soul-stirring night with musicians Syed and Ali Sarshar, Abhijit Dan and Sanjeev Raja. The night will have an ensemble of Sufiyana qalams, ghazals and qawwali merging them with Indian classical sounds.

SCREAN Australia known for organizing successful programs with overseas artists of Kaifi night of Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar, Deepti Naval and the play Siddhus of Upper Juhu, now are promoting local art and artists.

It is Corona time, lockdowns have stopped everything yet people who are cooped up due to various reasons till the vaccine is properly conducted on us all, everyone is pining for social mehfil nights, theatre and popular music in general.
