India under-19s create many records in West Indies

As the Indian cricket team under Virat Kohli and Lokesh Rahul is faring poorly in South Africa losing both the Test and One-Day series, the Indian junior team is performing superbly in Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies.

Last night they shattered many records while annihilating Uganda by 326 runs at Tarouba in the West Indies.

Sent in to bat Indian juniors plundered 5 for 405 runs in 50 overs at an exhilarating 8.10 runs an over. Opening batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi hit 144 runs with 22 fours and 4 sixes and added 206 brilliant runs off only 136 balls with Raj Bawa (162 not out with 14 fours and 8 sixes). Can you believe, eight sixes! It was a spectacle worth watching and remembering for decades.

In reply Uganda juniors could total a miserable 79, Nishant Sindhu taking 4 for 19. Six Uganda batsmen made ducks as India triumphed by a huge margin of 326 runs and topped in Group B, ahead of South Africa, Ireland and Uganda.

Raj Angad Bawa

For his record unbeaten 162, Raj Bawa was made Player of the Match.

In the semi-final qualifier, India will meet Bangladesh at Barbuda (West Indies) on Saturday the 29th.

The BIG problem for India is that five of their players have tested positive for COVID. Board of Control for Cricket in India has sent in five replacement players. But they will have to be quarantined first.

After all, COVID is the root of evil!
